Vermont 2-1-1: allows visitors to browse resources or get live referral help for state and community resources via phone. Howard Center: provides supports and services to address mental health, substance use, and developmental needs. Pathways Vermont: provide access to human-centered services and resources related to veterans, homelessness, mental healththat support diverse roads to wellness. Vermont Department of Health: lists local health offices which provide health services and promote wellness for all Vermonters.




LGBTQ+ Resources


Outright Vermont: builds safe environments for LGBTQ+ youth ages 13-22 through programming, events, and education. Pride Center of Vermont: connects LGBTQ+ individuals with advocates, HIV/HCV testing, and affirming healthcare providers. LGBT National Health Center: lists LGBTQ+ resources and provides a hotline, talkline, youth chatroom, and peer support chat. The Trevor Project: provides LGBTQ+ resources, and live help via phone, online chat, and text. Trans Lifeline: connects trans people to community, support, and resources, provides peer-operated hotline.




Cancer and Physical Health


Vermont Cancer Support Network: provides support, information, education, and celebration for Vermonters living with cancer. American Lung Association: prevents lung disease through education, advocacy and research. American Cancer Society: saves lives and creates a world with less cancer. American Heart Association: builds healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Asbestos.com: provide free information and works 1-on-1 with individuals to help them find local doctors, treatment centers and support groups. Mesothelioma Hub: provides information about mesothelioma, including complementary treatment options for patients undergoing chemotherapy. Mesothelioma Prognosis: provides free resources for mesothelioma patients and their families, including a list of specialized treatment centers. Mesothelioma Vets: provides mental health support for veterans with mesothelioma.




Mental Health


Howard Center: provides supports and services to address mental health, substance use, and developmental needs. Pathways Vermont: provide access to human-centered services and resources related to veterans, homelessness, mental health that support diverse roads to wellness. National Alliance on Mental Health Vermont: supports, educates and advocates for all individuals affected by mental health challenges in Vermont VT Suicide Prevention Center: gives people the knowledge, attitudes, skills, and resources to reduce the risk of suicide in VT. VT Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health: supports youth who are experiencing or at risk to experience emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges. Vermont Department of Mental Health: promotes and improves the health of Vermonters. Youth Mental Health First Aid Training: teaches adults how to help youth who are developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. IMALIVE: offers help for those in crisis and/or considering suicide via online text chat. UMatter: offers resources for those in crisis or concerned about someone in crisis. Mindwise: provides mental health screenings and suicide prevention programs. Veteran Crisis Line: offers help for veterans in crisis and/or considering suicide via phone and online text chat.




General Substance Use Help


Howard Center: provides supports and services to address mental health, substance use, and developmental needs. ParentUp Vermont: provides tips and valuable information to help you talk with your children about addictive substances.
Chittenden Prevention Network: supports healthy communities by improving public education, policy and practice on substane use. Vermont Alcohol and Drug Information Clearinghouse: provides free substance use-related publications and resources. Vermont Department of Health: lists prevention programs, family programs, treatment options, recovery services, and more via the Division of Alcohol & Drug Abuse. VT Recovery Network: helps people who have experienced problems as a result of drugs and alcohol to find, maintain, and enhance their recovery. Partnership for Drug-Free Kids: provides support and guidance for caregivers and advances effective prevention and treatment strategies.




Help with Specific Substances


Tobacco and Alcohol 802 Quits: provides tips and tools that can help make it easier to quit smoking. Counter Balance: raises awareness about the dangers of flavored tobacco products. The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids: offers information on key issues, the tobacco industry, and how youth and adults can get involved. Truth: dedicated to ending tobacco use with this generation of youth. National Association for Children of Alcoholics: aims to eliminate the adverse impact of alcohol and drug use on children and families. Claudia Black: offers audio cds, dvds, books, and toolboxes related to addiction, and trauma. Cannabis and Other Drugs SAM-VT: alliance dedicated to a health-first approach to marijuana policy. The Meth Project: aims to reduce meth use through public messaging, policy, and outreach. Inhalant Abuse Prevention: information for anyone around or experiencing inhalant abuse. The Medicine Abuse Project: prevents youth from abusing opiods, over-the-counter, and prescription medicine. Prescription Drug Disposal: offers a safe way to dispose of unused prescription drugs.




Resources for Racial Justice


Champlain Area NAACP: works to ensure the equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination. Black Lives Matter of Greater Burlington: works to transform the greater Burlington area into a place where all Black people thrive bodily, socially, and economically. Books about Race and Racism for Youth: list of children's books about black history, race, and issues of racism, spanning ages 0-12 and up. Advocates for Youth: provides information on movements and issues that affect young people and offers resources for youth, including a youth activism toolkit. PBS for Parents: provides resources parents can use to talk to children about race and racism, from children's shows and books to a conversation with a panel of parents. Activist, You!: podcast that interviews youth activists about the work they're doing related to racial justice, immigration, and other activism. Anti-Defamation League: offers self-paced mini-lessons and larger lesson plans exploring bias, race, identity, and diversity. DoSomething.org: lists actions youth can take to fight racial injustice and earn scholarships
